Background information on the Keter brand

If you are looking for a plastic shed then the Keter Manor 6ft x 4ft may be quite close to the top of your list. Quite simply you get a large shed with a few extras for a low price.

For a bit of background on the Keter brand, they are the market leader in home and garden supplies. This does give the advantage of knowing that if there are any problems with your purchase this will be backed up by a good level of customer support.

Why buy the Keter 6ft x 4ft?

The 6 x 4ft Manor shed is one of the most popular with the Keter range. Feedback from many customers is that it fits in the perfect spot between price and quality. Yes, they are more expensive than a traditional wooden shed, but they do offer a lot of benefits over their wooden counterparts.

Constructing the Keter Manor Shed

Delivery was quick, like many sheds it turned up in multiple flat pack cardboard boxes. The instruction are clear and do a good job of guiding you through the process.

Although the pictures make this look like a simple build, I would advise that you give yourself at least 3-4 (some people reporting as many as 6) hours and required 2 people. The main issue with the build is that many parts are a little fiddly and require some extra care. The roof in particular gave us the most issue.

Keter Manor build quality and extras

After completing the shed and finishing our cup of tea (our 4th of the day) we admit that the shed does look very nice at the bottom of the garden. There are a few points we would like to raise however:

Build quality – The Keter Manor is fair value for money. I can see this shed lasting at least 10 years as long as care is taken with the doors, windows and locks. This doesn’t have the same build quality as the Apex range, but it is almost half the cost. The doors are a little flimsy and you do need to be careful as it will not stand up to accidents such as excessive pressure.

Extras – Included with the Manor is a fixed window, ventilation and locking system. It’s a nice addition that at least some light is able to make its way through the frosted window and the air vent takes away some of the musty smells that you would get with a traditional wooden shed.

Security – The locking system supplied is a traditional sliding bolt that you would find on the majority of garden sheds. It isn’t the most robust we have seen and if somebody wanted to get into your shed then it wouldn’t take them long. You can however increase security by firstly buying a good padlock, you would be surprise by how many people buy a lock that looks like it came from the pound shop, yet store high value garden furniture inside.

Secondly if you want an additional level of security we would advise buying a cable padlock system that can easily be fed through various items stored in the shed such as furniture and lawn mowers etc. They can be found here for less than £10. The result is that if somebody breaks into your shed they have the added difficulty to remove the items that are all locked together.

Final verdict

The Keter Manor 6ft x 4ft is a great value plastic shed and we cannot fault the final product. It is very basic in many areas however, we would advise you to take additional security measures if you are storing anything of value.

Construction does take at least half a day when you include breaks and it helps that both you and your buddy are prepared before you start putting it together. This shed will typically last around 10 years in a well sheltered garden.
